Ashbridges Bay Beach Volleyball is all about adult beach volleyball leagues and youth beach volleyball programs on the shores of Lake Ontario at Ashbridges Bay Park and Woodbine Beach Park.
The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) has been granted the privilege of managing and delivering both adult leagues and youth programs.
The OVA is a not-for-profit organization that is the official governing body for the sport of volleyball in the province of Ontario and is one of the leading provincial sports organizations in Canada. Over the course of its 80 year history the organization has acquired a wealth of experience in developing and delivering a broad range of high-quality volleyball programs – beach and indoor – at all levels from recreational to high-performance and for all age groups from youth to adult.
The OVA has been a tenant at Ashbridges Bay for almost 20 years. During this period we have organized, marketed and delivered large scale beach volleyball events including provincial and national championships, international competitions and recreational tournaments, in addition to regular weekend events. The OVA intends to bring all of this experience to bear in support of adult recreational beach volleyball enthusiasts, youth beach volleyball players, the City of Toronto and the local community.
We have also built strategic alliances with other key organizations and individuals to ensure the success of the adult recreational and youth programs, and that all participants achieve their objectives and enjoy the experience.
The partnership between the OVA, a public, not-for-profit organization and the City of Toronto has lead to the delivery of unparalleled beach volleyball program opportunities for children, youth and adults and beach volleyball enthusiasts at large.
Adult Recreational Beach Volleyball Leagues
The OVA hosts spring and summer adult recreational Leagues from May to September, every year at Ashbridges Bay, on the 85 permanent beach volleyball courts. A League season consists of eight weeks and runs Monday through Friday. All League matches begin at 6:45 pm. This year a new 3-match format has been introduced, so teams play 90 minutes each week, playing 3 matches a night. Teams are put into different tiers after several weeks of play to ensure the most enjoyable and competitive matches but importantly, effectively ensuring that teams are playing other teams of similar skill levels more frequently.
To strengthen our ability to deliver the highest quality of customer service, the OVA has contracted Sport on Sand Inc., operating as Beach Blast. Beach Blast is an organization that is deeply committed to the growth of the sport of beach volleyball at all levels and has extensive experience in delivering adult recreational beach volleyball programs.
