FAQ

When does the registration open for each session?

Usually registration for Spring, Summer and Fall sessions opens the first week of March annually.

Historically, 95% of the summer leagues sell out well before the registration deadline each year so please register early to avoid disappointment.

What time are the leagues played at?

Spring and Summer Session games start at 6:45pm and run roughly to 8:30pm. Every team plays 3 timed matches nightly. Schedules are posted on-site at Ashbridges every night and they will be posted on the website after the first week of play.

Fall Session games start at 6pm and they end around 7:15pm, or as long as we get sunlight for. Every team plays 2 timed matches and then are encouraged to play for fun until the sun goes down.

How do I find out if the games are cancelled due to bad weather?

As beach volleyball is an outdoor sport, we have to let you know that ALL OF OUR BEACH LEAGUES WILL RUN RAIN OR SHINE. Only in EXTREME and unpredicted weather circumstances will we not run our leagues. Cancellations will occur on-site (e.g. lightning, unplayable court conditions). Please note: In the event that court conditions do not permit the running of all divisions at the same time during the spring and/or summer season, divisions may be moved to an alternate time slot on the same night to avoid cancellation. Team contacts will be notified by noon of their play date if their start time will be adjusted for that evening. If your division cannot be accommodated in either time slot you will be refunded for the night.

For live weather updates, check the weather report and information on ticker on the home page, follow us on twitter @ashbridgesvb or like our Facebook Page.

On extreme weather days, please feel free to call our weather hotline at (416) 426-7300. The line will be updated at 5pm only if play is cancelled. If you do not hear a game cancellation message, kindly proceed to the beach. Please do not leave a message asking to be called back about play for that night. Your cooperation is appreciated.

What will the league be like - just for the elite players or for every skill level?

Our goal is to operate well-organized leagues that are inclusive and offer everyone an opportunity to play regardless of skill level. Whether you are a beginner, recreational, intermediate, advanced, or an elite player, we will have a place for you to play and enjoy beach volleyball at Ashbridges Bay.

We structure the leagues in a manner that ensures your team is playing in the appropriate division, and that your matches are competitive and fun. Our objective is to ensure that everyone has fun and enjoys the experience, both on and off the court!

Do I have to become a member of the OVA in order to play in the adult recreational leagues?

No, participants do not need to become OVA members to play in the league.
